The other day I traveled to NYC to get a visa for visiting China. The Chinese consulates do not give visas by mail, electronically, or any other way than good old fashioned "show up and give your passport in person". And you have to go to the office for the region in which your passport was issued. So, NYC here I come.
I was expecting the worst - long lines, a possibility they wouldn't expedite it, just general hassles. So I showed up at 9 and found a pretty long line. Great. BUT, the line moved quickly, the officers were nice, and stamp stamp stamp later I got a form for pick up later that afternoon, no hassle with the same day rush delivery!
Fast forward to the afternoon and again, no problems, here's your passport, I have a visa for China lickity split! (Plus the $170 fee!) Anyway, if anybody needs to get a visa for China, this website tells you all about it!
