Mini horse competes with tallest cat
Well, my brother sent me this article about the tiniest of mini horses in response to the tallest "cat" in the world. I wonder if the world's tallest "cat" Scarlett's Magic (still a weird name) is taller than the "pint-sized pinto" Einstein (better name). SOOOO CUTE!!!!!

I love Johnny Depp!
Johnny Depp bought himself his very own pirate ship!!! Take a look at the pics here. And you and 10 guests can get a week on the ship for only $130,000!! That's just a measly $12,000 per person. Not too bad for a pirate adventure!

World's Tallest "Cat"
Guinness World Records has found the tallest "cat" in the world - at 17.1 inches tall. Wow. This is where I must take issue, however, because I'm pretty sure than any lion or tiger beats 17.1 inches tall. Let's not forget that they are cats as well. And Guinness doesn't seem to qualify "cat" with "domestic," which would alleviate my discomfort with calling Scarlett's Magic (weird name) the tallest cat in the world. OWG.
P.S. I love the music in this video.

Penn Relays 2010
Yesterday ANTM, LR, MK and I went to the Penn Relays here in Philadelphia. This is the first time I've ever been and it was quite amazing!! Basically there are track and field events from Thursday through Saturday from middle school to high school, college, Olympic development and full on professionals.

The college and pro stuff is Saturday, and this year Usain Bolt was running as part of the Jamaica 4x100 relay in USA v. the World! The fastest man in the world!! Probably 75% of the stands were filled with Jamaican fans decked out in Jamaican flags and green and yellow and black.
ANTM and I were sitting in the East Stands about 30 rows up - perfect view. We could see the whole track and when Bolt ran, he started right on the curve in front of us! And then sprinted is 100 split in 8.79 seconds!!!

I must say though, the highlight of the day was the Masters 100 sprint - all the competitors were over 75 years of age. The winner (80 years old) sprinted 100 meters in 15 seconds. Incredible! And there was a 93 year old guy that ran it in 22 seconds! Great day!

How cool is this??
The original transcript from the OK Corral Gunfight Inquest was found in an Arizona jail!! Although they say it probably won't contain any new information, the document is a 130 year old original documenting the stories of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday and the OK Corral gunfight. What a treasure!!

HAPPY EARTH DAY!!
I hope everybody had a great Earth Day!! Take care of Mother Earth - she's done nothing but give and give and give to us. And she's beautiful!
Well, go big or go home!
Burger King is testing new menu item - MIMOSAS! How great is this???? Get your complete caloric intake in one sitting - burger, fries, mimosa - and be on your way! Unfortunately (to some), the mimosa is nonalcoholic: OJ and Sprite instead of Champagne. Maybe they should make it alcoholic to better compete with McDonalds!?!?!

Hiking the Appalachian Trail!!
My friend LR and I went up for a day hike to the Pinnacle along the Appalachian Trail. We started early, not sure how long it would take. After a little bit of a misdirect (never take the advice of a group of 16 year old boys!), and a tremendously steep ascent (breathing hard!!), we made it to an outlook of sorts: the Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomy Club's 3 observatories! Quite cool!

Following a rocky path around the mountain, we made it to the Pinnacle and ate lunch - LR packed us rice and soy sauce, vegetables, oranges, and yummy peanut butter bars! On the way back down, we found the "easy" way down: a nice wide gently sloping trail that finished right where we began! Haha!

After the hike we decided to find a pub and have a meal. We found pretty much the best place ever - CJ Hummels in Lenhartsville. We both ate entire two piece chicken meals with potatoes and cole slaw, 2 pieces of pie, and a coffee for $22. $22!!!! Plus it was happy hour - $1 drinks and draft beers! $1!!!! GREAT DAY!

Drexel Public Health and Environmental Justice Law Clinic works with several communities throughout the Philadelphia Region. We entered a video in EPA's Faces of the Grassroots: Environmental Justice Video Contest based on the great strides made by Philadelphia's Hunting Park community. Take a look!!

Tiger Woods commercial
I saw the first Tiger Woods commercial from Nike this morning. I'd just like to say nice try, tasteful, but doesn't really make me want to buy anything from Nike. And I'm not entirely sure what the message is...

Spring Garden Bridge
Ok, it's been a while since I've posted, and I missed April Fools day, which is disappointing, but I've been busy. And now I have something (lots!) to post about.
Is anybody else upset that they are taking down the mural on the Spring Garden bridge and replacing it with shiny (distracting) silver stainless steel (boring) siding?? Aside from the creepy black-eyed baby painting towards the north end of the bridge, I actually found the rest of it aesthetically pleasing. And now I'll just have to stare at my bumpy reflection or deflect the bright sun's reflection when I walk across the bridge. My friend JS said it best - this city just doesn't make good decisions.
Good bye Spring Garden Bridge!!
