Penn Relays 2010

Yesterday ANTM, LR, MK and I went to the Penn Relays here in Philadelphia. This is the first time I've ever been and it was quite amazing!! Basically there are track and field events from Thursday through Saturday from middle school to high school, college, Olympic development and full on professionals.

The college and pro stuff is Saturday, and this year Usain Bolt was running as part of the Jamaica 4x100 relay in USA v. the World! The fastest man in the world!! Probably 75% of the stands were filled with Jamaican fans decked out in Jamaican flags and green and yellow and black.

ANTM and I were sitting in the East Stands about 30 rows up - perfect view. We could see the whole track and when Bolt ran, he started right on the curve in front of us! And then sprinted is 100 split in 8.79 seconds!!!

I must say though, the highlight of the day was the Masters 100 sprint - all the competitors were over 75 years of age. The winner (80 years old) sprinted 100 meters in 15 seconds. Incredible! And there was a 93 year old guy that ran it in 22 seconds! Great day!
