When people say, "I've been preparing for this moment my whole life."
I'm sorry, but I have trouble believing that. Your whole life? This moment? Really? If you've been preparing for this moment your whole life, what are you going to do now, AFTER this moment? What's the point of living after that moment?
Maybe I hate it because I don't really have any goals of my own, so it's hard for me to understand people who prepare for something their whole life. I mean, I remember my first memories (contemplate that!) from about 2-3 years old. And I certainly hadn't figured out what I wanted to prepare for at that point in time. So if I hadn't started preparing for something then, I can never say "I've been preparing for this moment my whole life" now can I?
Maybe it's just a figure of speech. Maybe not. But either way, I hate it. The saying, that is. Not the people who say it.
