The end of my Fringe

No, I don't have a fringe (which are bangs here in Australia). But tonight I went to my last Adelaide Fringe show. It's been super fun and I've seen all sorts of things at all sorts of venues.

First was the Best of the Edinburgh Fest - three British comedians who were hilarious. Belly laughs galore. Next was Wanderlust - an American guy talking about his travels around west Africa. While this was listed as a comedy, it was more like drama/intense theater. And it was in a tiny little box of a tent, which made it that much more intense!

Third I saw an improv group - Subsidized Corn from Washington DC! They were pretty good and I had a chat with them afterwards about how they got into the Adelaide Fringe (heard about it and then just entered by a certain date - you don't have to be invited to perform).

Then I went to see Phillip Escoffey - mind reader! This show was really mind blowing! And funny too. The guy is a great performer and it really made you think about how the context in which we get information shapes our reality.

Fifth was Tom Tom Crew - listed under the "circus" heading. This group was pretty spectacular. Acrobats, drumming, beatboxing, energetic. It was pretty cool to see that group of guys with such different talents performing together.

Finally I saw a cabaret - Clean as a Whistle. This was a cute little play/song/dance/comedy in a really quaint pub venue where everybody was sitting at tables and having dinner and a show! There were only two performers but it was quite entertaining.

Alas, I'm sad that the Fringe is coming to an end this weekend, as there are heaps more shows that I want to see! But the touch rugby grand final and a weekend of WOMAD (an outdoor international concert) means no more Fringe shows for me. Although March madness continues beyond the Fringe!
