School Hours

I live next to an elementary school. During the school year, generally September - June, there are lots of kids and school buses that line up along the street outside the school. Understandably, the parking authority has labeled part of the streets around the school "No parking school hours: 7:30am - 4:30pm. I parked on one side of the school by one of these signs twice, with no ticket.

Today, because I got home at 2:30am and couldn't be bothered to find a "real" parking spot, I parked on the school street, thinking, logically, that school hours do not apply when there is no school. Well, imagine my surprise (really, just a thought of "of course") when I came out to my car and there was a ticket on the windshield. The ticket said "No parking school hours bus parking summer school."

Now hold on just a hot second. There is no summer school and no buses parking on that street. So my dilemma is, fight this parking ticket, taking hours out of my day and life, because THERE IS NO SCHOOL? Or just pay the $31?
