This weekend I went to the beach with IR and where we spent some time both in the ocean and in a pool. The ocean is still quite cold, so more water time was spent in the pool, where IR attempted to show off her life saving skills while I pretended to be a (quite docile) drowning victim. She was a life guard in years past, so I figured I was in safe hands.
Let's just say it was the closest I've come to death. Ever! In all fairness, any time I would pretend to be a drowning victim, I would start to laugh hysterically, blow out my held breath, and suck in a huge gulp of water. It didn't help that IR was laughing as well and nearly drowning herself...on top of me.
But anyway, now I'm afraid I'm going to suffer from dry or delayed drowning. Although I don't really have any of the symptoms that boy had and it's been a while since the near drowning experience.
Another positive of the weekend was that I didn't get burned (I wore my sunscreen this time Mom!).

In my own defense, the conditions were treacherous (I have no idea how that might actually be spelled). The waves were at least three feet high, from what I remember.
Also, in the interest of full disclosure, I guarded at a lake frequently by the elderly. The lake was nearly four feet at its deepest depth.
you spelled treacherous correctly. and that is true, the waves were at least 3 ft high. it was a danger zone out there for everyone!
I am so glad that you are still here and also that you wore your sunscreen!
Maybe you two should wear the little arm "swimmies" to keep you afloat--just to be on the safe side!
I'm terrified at the thought of delayed drowning, and the fact that it's possible. Because seriously, I need another thing to fret about.
But the thought of you in "little arm swimmies" cheers me somewhat ...
