So, seeing as how I missed reading the last book club book, I figured I'd get an early start on the next one - The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. I saw that there was one copy available at the Public Library in Mantua (34th and Haverford). YES!
I placed a hold on it, so I thought, just to be extra sure. But then just went to the library and was going to pick it up. Only, they couldn't find it. We searched everywhere - me and the three librarians. No luck. No book. And of course, it is checked out everywhere else.
Seriously, Philadelphia Free Library system - GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER! You should be embarrassed. This is just sad.

This is why Mayor Nutter is closing so many to save the city on loot! I agree with him 100%!
Yeah, close down all the libraries!!!!
No need to fix them!!
i smell conspiracy theory. not on everyone...just you.
gregory K, i agree with you 100%. Jenn/Bing and ANTM, why don't we just burn all the books??
Anarchy!
I'm the exact opposite about books. I like to own every book that I've read. When I'm a real person and have a house, I'm going to have a giant library.
I may or may not let you burn small parts of it because I'm thoughtful like that.
