I'm pretty much useless...

So in my one book club, the book of the month was Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. In short, the book chronicles the story of Greg Mortenson as he single-handedly built schools across Pakistan and Afghanistan, battling against two fatwas, kidnappings, the hardships after the 9/11 attacks and the conflicts created by the American War on Terror, among many other challenges.

This man is amazing. He traveled to Pakistan to climb K2 and instead stumbled across a remote village where the circumstances sparked his passion to bring education to Pakistan's children - boys and girls alike. This man lived out of his car, pay check to pay check, just enough to buy a ticket back to Pakistan every season. This man started a revolution, slowly gaining attention across the US and Central Asia, and starting the Central Asia Institute.

This man makes a difference in the world. A HUGE difference in the lives of many many people. What do I do? I wake up, eat, go to school, go to work, eat, go home, workout sometimes, play a little rugby, go to bed. I do nothing. I am useless. Mis manos son inutil.

omg i was so moved by that book. i still think about it, months after i've read it. you should watch Charlie Wilson's War now that you've read it and see if you don't explode!

I'm going to make a difference in the world by learning this particular phrase in as many languages as possible.

To date: Le mie mani sono inutili.
