I don't think anybody would disagree with me if I said March on the east coast came in like a lion. I barely made it home before the airports were shut down due to the snow storm. A canceled flight, tight connection, plane de-icing, and sleet delay later, I touched down at PHL Sunday night.
Of course, all Philly public schools were closed before Monday even hit, but noooo not Drexel. So I trudged to school in a suit for my 8am class, then headed to work. Only to find that nobody was at work! Apparently they canceled it. Awesome. So I hopped on the bus home and suddenly became aware of the fact that no road in the city had been plowed or salted. And according to a security guard I met on the bus who travels the local highways, several salt trucks were just sitting on the side of the road, not salting. The guard saw 2 accidents happen right in front of him.
This begs the question, as I do my local taxes, just what ARE my tax dollars going to? Definitely not to keep the roads clear and safe - not to plowing, not to salting. It seems the city just decided to roll over and quit for a day. No matter, really, since I managed to enjoy the snow day. But seriously, Philly, what's up?

They want to increase the wage tax also.
I don't know what our taxes go to besides not taking accident reports in person AND stopping citiznes who drive red cars.
