Ben and Jerry's got rid of my favorite ice cream of all time, Oatmeal Cookie Chunk, a couple years ago. To be honest, I'm not really sure how long ago. But it seems like ages, and since they've gotten rid of it, I've basically boycotted them.
At the beginning, when I found out it was gone, I was completely demoralized. But then I spurred myself into action. I emailed Ben and Jerry's basically every day for a long long time asking why they discontinued the flavor and if they'll ever bring it back. Here's a sample:
"I am EXTREMELY disappointed to hear that oatmeal cookie chunk is being eliminated from the flavor lineup. I have also talked to several other people who love this flavor. I personally will not be going back to Ben and Jerry's."
Finally I got a curt and vindictive response:
"Hello:
We have not stopped producing this flavor in pint form. It is available in pints, but not at scoop shops any longer.
Thank you for writing and inquiring."
Isn't that mean? That's when I stopped thinking about Oatmeal Cookie Chunk forever. Because contrary to what Sharon Swasey said in her email, the pints were not available anywhere but a select few Wawas (LOVE Wawa!).
Well, now to the point of this story. Today I was talking to ANTM and she was trying to decide whether or not to get some ice cream at Ben and Jerry's at 30th St. Station. Ever the enabler, I said "Do it!" A little bit later she called and said the ice cream was excellent - she got split scoops of Moose Tracks (TM or C or R) and Oatmeal Cookie Chunk!!! OATMEAL COOKIE CHUNK!!
They brought it back, BECAUSE OF ME!!!!

That's the BEST flavor ever!
Wawa is just a gas station. With gas station sandwiches.
But a BIG congrats on spurring B&J to action!
So many things to say:
1. Tell JenS that WaWa is SOOOOO much more than just a gas station with gas station sandwiches. WaWa is a way of life!
2. My cone was actually split between Phish Food and Oatmeal Cookie Chunk :)
3. Ice Cream is yummy :)
