Things I Hate #76 - Fortuneless Fortune Cookies

I think the fortune cookie companies have really wimped out. Of the last, oh 100 fortune cookies I've eaten, I think I've only gotten 1 fortune. That fortune was a good one - "You will take a vacation soon."

BUT, for the most part, they are lame sayings like "You are smart and wise," "You have a beautiful inner smile," or here's the latest one that's prompted this blog post: "There is a true and sincere friendship between you both."

What the heck does that mean? "You both"?? Both who? Me and my schizophrenic counterpart Mik? I don't think so. And I would imagine if I had a schizophrenic counterpart named Mik we wouldn't have a true and sincere relationship.

Aside from that oddity, what is the FORTUNE in that saying? There is no fortune. Dictionary.com defines "fortune" as things that happen or are to happen to a person in his or her life.

I hardly think "There is a true and sincere friendship between you both" qualifies as a fortune. And to add salt to the wound, there's no "Learn Chinese" on the back. Moo goo guy pan.

These fortune cookie makers are as thick as thieves.

I just had a fortune cookie. It told me, "A great pleasure in life is doing what others say you can't." In bed.

Haha. But I agree, not a fortune.
