The goal of life

I overheard a girl's conversation today in which a man commented that this girl was turning out just like her mother. This girl responded somewhat indignantly, that "the whole goal of my life is to be the complete opposite of my family....because they are bad influences."

I found this comment disappointing and sad on several levels, for if it is indeed true that her family are bad influences, I feel bad for her. If it is also indeed true that her whole goal in her entire life is to be unlike her family, I feel bad for her as well, because she has only that goal.

I guess I'm just really lucky in that I won the lottery with my family. I love them, and although we can be bad influences on each other, we are hilarious. Plus, I would actually be a better person if I grew up and turned out just like my mom!
