So, I've decided to start a new quest - a quest to become an ambidextrous squash player. I would say I'm an okay squash player with my right hand. Having some background in racket sports, I can get some decent shots in. But my right shoulder is missing a labrum, so sometimes it is painful to play for extended periods of time.
My friend SP and I play squash occasionally. He is quite good, and while I can usually get a few points off him, he wins mostly. The best part about our games though is the rallies - we tend to have long, spectacular leap and dive rallies that always end in someone against the wall or on the floor, and the other person laughing.
So to make things more interesting, we decided to both play left handed. Now I can write left handed - painstakingly slow, but I can do it and it is legible. I can eat and brush my teeth left handed. I can sort of throw left handed. But trying to play tennis left handed had always been a challenge. So I figured this would be no different.
Boy was I wrong! My left handed backhand is AMAZING! An inch above the bottom line every time!!! You'd think this would make for a great game, but not so much. Neither SP nor I could serve with our left hands, so we had to bend the rules a bit. Hahaha. In any event, it was a competitive game at quite a high level, I would say!
