A city built on a volcano

Well I arrived in Edinburgh and was amazed. As the bus pulled into the city the castle towered over everything and old magnificent buildings lined the ridge. Lots and lots of years ago a couple volcanoes erupted here and now the city and it's extensive Holyrood Park are situated on the aftermath.

I climbed up Calton Hill for some spectacular views an walked the "Royal Mile", but mostly words can't describe it!! The city is the basis for the idea of Hogwarts in Harry Potter; lots of famous people are from there (or died there...that seems to be common) - Robert Louis Stevenson, Adam Smith, David Hume, Burke and Hare, Jekyll and Hyde - the list goes on. I loved it!! But now I have to leave...off to continental Europe!
