Stirling

I stopped in Stirling on my way to Edinburgh and it was definitely a good stop. I saw Stirling Castle dating from the 1500s and also the Holyrude church where Mary Queen of Scots worshipped and her baby son King James VI (or V, I can't remember) was coronated after Queen Elizabeth's death...I think in the early 1600s. I forget all the dates. But this is the only church other than Westminster where a coronation took place!

In the distance you can see the Scottish countryside and mountains. There's also a beheading stone a short walk from the castle and William Wallace's tower a hill away! The town still sports some of the original city walls as well. Quite cool!
