Back to Blue Mountain

So, because I finished my work in time yesterday, I was able to make it back up to Blue Mountain for some skiing/snowboarding with JS, KP, AM, and LD. This turned out to be a very interesting and fun evening.

We made it to the mountain about 7:30 where AM and LD had arrived earlier and were already on the slopes. Due to an unfortunate oversight by JS, KP was left with only her work loafers as shoes. This provided quite a site, a la Michael Jackson, with her thick white socks and black loafers. Nice.

We bought our lift tickets and headed off to a somewhat icy mountain, but not as bad as the last time I was up there a couple weeks ago. They advertised that they had 32" of snow, and that they did. Although I'd say in some spots they had about 40." I would know because in futiley attempting to perform some rad tricks on my board, I fell and slid down the mountain on my stomach a good 20m, right over the side of the packed snow and into a tree. Thank goodness LD was there to document this event and pull me out. Thanks LD!

We got a good 2 hours of skiing in, leaving the mountain about 10, at which time we were hungry. Worried about not being able to find anything open that late, we were thrilled when we came across the Whitehall Diner - open 24/7! Nothing like hitting up a diner outside of the city. We were basically the focal point of all eyeballs. The 5 of us, all decked out in our snow gear (me in my snowpant overalls). Fortunately we were waited on by a quite enthusiastic and lovely elderly woman who made our milkshakes from scratch on the spot. We chowed down to French onion soup, mozarella sticks, pierogies, turkey clubs, reubens, salads, fries, and freshly made egg salad sandwiches. DELICIOUS!! I couldn't have been happier, or fatter. In the end, we made it out safely and our waitress took this beautiful pic.
