Anyway, the legs come of the couch, thank goodness, and it scrapes right through the front door after a little maneuvering. The chair on the otherhand, is not going anywhere. Legs don't come off. No amount of twisting will get it through. So we decide to take the door down. A good 30 minutes later we've managed to remove the door by hammering out the pins and now are trying to shove this heirloom through the door. It almost doesn't work, but we manage to jam it in. Done!
Second, my mom came up to visit bringing a couch! And like the heirloom, the legs don't come off. I have a very narrow hallway and a bit of angle into my living room door. Difficult. But thankfully we had Paul, the upstairs neighbor's boyfriend who offered to help us! We lift the couch over part of the stairway to get it in the hall, then twist and turn so it's at the door, then BAM. The legs don't fit. So guess what? Yep, had to take the door off. Second time in 2 days. After that, all seemed well until the very last part jammed at the top of the frame. So I hung on the couch hoping my massive weight would scrunch it down a bit, while Paul pulled and mom pushed behind me. After a lot of sweating and exertion, the couch popped through! Then Paul put the door back on. Thank God for Paul!
Anyway, while I didn't get any pictures of the best part (me hanging on the couch and mom putting her shoulder into it), here are a few of Paul screwing the door back on.
