There are really no words that can accurately describe my experience with Penn State rugby. It shaped my life. It's where I've met some of my very best friends, who are still my very best friends. It embodies power, strength, heart, and soul. Penn State rugby has class, elegance, and intelligence. And the program has shown the country that it is the premier collegiate team, making the Final 4 15 of the last 16 years and winning the National Championship 4 times.
Back to defend their title this year, Penn State met Stanford...again. And in an exciting and eventful game, Penn State suffered a heartbreaking loss when Stanford scored with no time left, making it 15-10 Stanford.
Ladies, you played your heart out and all I can tell you is what IR told us when we lost to Air Force 10-12 in the 2002 final with arguably the best team of players Penn State has ever seen - "sometimes the best team doesn't win." Not much consolation, but it's true.
I guarantee you that years from now when you think about all the games you've played, you may remember the score and the loss may still sting. But the years you lose and the years you win won't be any different because it's the experience with you had with the people you had it with that matters. I'd rather have lost every National Championship with Penn State than to have won any with Air Force, or Stanford, or any other team in the country.
I love Penn State Rugby!
